We do not offer payment for accepted pieces at this time.

Response times vary by submission call. 

Midsummer Dream House is open to submissions for editorial feedback. Editorial feedback is given to help develop or improve the piece submitted. You can expect to receive feedback regarding aspects such as:

  • Form
  • Structure
  • Development
  • Theme
  • Pacing
  • Grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Any other aspect of the writing.

Guidelines:

Poetry

  • Submit 1-3 poems.

Flash Fiction

  • Submit 1-2 pieces.
  • Each piece must be between 100-1,000 words.

Short Fiction

  • Submit 1 piece between 1,000-4,000 words.

Longer Fiction

  • Submit 1 piece between 4,000-10,000 words.

Short Creative Nonfiction

  • Submit 1 piece between 1,000-4,000 words.

Longer Creative Nonfiction

  • Submit 1 piece between 4,000-10,000 words.

The amount of feedback you will receive will vary. You may receive between 4 lines to a full page of editorial critique.

  • Include a short cover letter that also includes credits (if needed) and a synopsis.
  • Comics and Graphic Fictional Works must be themed around: Fall, Halloween, Horror, Surrealism, Science Fiction, or the Paranormal. 

MUSIC: 

  • Submit 1 song as a WAV or MP3 file.
  • Include a short cover letter that includes the name of all author(s) of the song. State whether you are a solo musician or if you are part of a band.
